5 inexpensive ways to make your home look better immediately

Have you ever looked around your house just been like wow, this place is really lacking but I have no idea what to do? If so, then this blog post is for you!

Cut the clutter

This is your conscience speaking… seriously you have to get rid of the piles of crap everywhere. Pick the clothes up off the floor and put them in a laundry basket and if you have to, hide that laundry basket in a closet somewhere. Pick up the crap off the dining room table and file your mail in your home office. Find a basket to put dog or kid toys in and put it away. Doing this alone will make you feel so much better. If you haven’t used it in a year or longer, then toss it or donate it.

Hide your kitchen appliances… no seriously

Have you ever gone over to someone’s house and walked into their kitchen and been like, holy appliance! because they have appliance after appliance on the counter? There’s no counter space because they have a row of toasters, blenders, food processors, and god knows what else? Can the outlet even handle all that stuff? Oh wait is that you? For the love, find some storage space within your cabinets and put those suckers away. It’s wise to leave out the things you use the most, but I am betting that you don’t use your food processor or even your toaster every single day. Put the baby behind a cabinet where it belongs! No storage space? Maybe it’s time to expand your kitchen or clean out your cabinets to make room for these items.

Add some decor

Ok, even the gas stations these days have flowers. If that’s the closest place to where you live then run up there and get some flowers, throw them in a vase, and set them on the dining room table. Not in the mood for flowers? Target has many options for throw pillows, throw blankets, etc. If you think Target is expensive for what it is, you could go looking at Home Goods or even on Amazon. Find a couple of things you like and throw it on your couch. Don’t forget your walls either. Mirrors are your friend, along with imagery, and 3-dimensional artwork. A combination of these things will help a room out a lot. Baskets are also your friend.

Add candles

Do I need to say more here? They have plenty of good ones at Home Goods, that’s where I get mine! I also like to use scented wax warmers.

Update your hardware

Do you ever look at your kitchen and think the whole thing needs to be re done? Most of the time that is actually the case, but sometimes it isn’t. Sometimes doing something as simple as updating the cabinet pulls can really change the way everything looks. You can also opt to re-paint cabinets if you can’t afford to get new ones. The same goes for doors and door handles. You don’t need to always replace the entire door, but sometimes changing the lever style or even painting can make all the difference.
